Tenders Direct is provided by Millstream Associates Limited, which was
founded by Tim Williams and Alan Brown in 1989. Both Tim and Alan are still actively
running the company, with Tim focusing on the procurement issues, while Alan concentrates
on the I.T. systems.

We launched Tenders Direct in 1992 as a tender notification service for companies
in the UK and Europe, who were interested in business opportunities advertised in
the Official Journal of the European Union (the OJEU, formerly known as
OJEC). Tim
Berners-Lee had only just invented the world wide web, so in those days we distributed
the contract opportunities by fax and post. It wasn't until the turn of the century
that we developed the first Tenders Direct website and started to distribute opportunities by email.
As well as developing the technology, we have also invested heavily in finding as
many additional sources of information as possible, particularly relating to the
smaller contracts which are generally much easier for a small or medium sized company
to win.
We have developed close working relationships with thousands of public sector organisations, so that we can directly source information
on their contracts that are not advertised in the OJEU.
Our objective is to ensure that if a UK public contract is advertised anywhere we will have that information
available for you on Tenders Direct, so that you can be sure that you 'never miss
an opportunity'.
